1. Camaraderie:

Bucket loads of it. You’ll find yourself being hauled over a wall by someone you’ve never met or pulled out of a skip full of ice to the reassuring words of ‘try not to panic, you’re going to be ok’. At the time I wasn’t sure I was, but I lived to tell the tale.

2. Everyone’s a winner:

What they said at school was true. It really is the taking part that counts! Not classified as an actual race, Tough Mudder isn’t timed, so there are no winners and, more crucially, no losers.

3. Sense of achievement:

To be able to say you’ve scrambled your way over 22 army-style obstacles (most of which involve being drenched in freezing cold water) and run a half-marathon, all before lunchtime on a Saturday, is quite an achievement in our minds.

4. For the lols:

Think you’d get bored running a marathon? Then this is a challenge for you. With a new obstacle every half-mile there’s plenty to keep you on your toes, whether it’s Mud Mile or Walk The Plank. Take part as a team and we guarantee you’ll laugh your way around the course as you watch your friends attempt the ridiculous.

5. There’s a first time for everything:

Have you ever swum through ‘Electric Eel’ tentacles? Well I hadn’t either, until Saturday. Aren’t you just a little bit intrigued?

Sign up to the next Tough Mudder event on the 2nd and 3rd May, 2015.
