It's been over a week since Aquaman's Jason Momoa was spotted lending his coat to Kate Beckinsale at an Oscars after party – since then, fans have been debating whether the move was a flirtatious one, or simply Momoa being chivalrous.

Naturally, in celeb land, the romance rumours between the pair have well and truly been doing the rounds and now Momoa has stepped in to set the record straight.

'It was cray,' the actor said to Extra of the speculation about his feelings towards Beckinsale. 'Have a conversation with a woman about her country, I was in England doing Aquaman 2. Everyone is like, "Are you dating?" No, no, it was chivalry, the woman was cold.'

He went on, 'Absolutely not, not together. She is very nice, I was being very nice, just being a gentleman. Now, I am not giving my coat to anyone.' Speculation that Momoa and the Underworld star were dating came just weeks after he and partner of 16 years, Lisa Bonet, called time on their relationship.

Releasing a statement earlier this year, in January, the pair – who share two children together – said: 'We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~ and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.'

The post continued: 'And so ~ We share our Family news ~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. [sic]'
