Savannah Miller’s fashion venture with her actress sister, Sienna Twenty8Twelve, ended last year when they parted ways from the company and its owners, but now she’s back with her very own Savannah Miller Autumn Winter 12 collection, which is available to buy on nelly.com and consists of perfect separates for day or night.

At the launch of her first eponymous fashion line, ELLE caught up with designer over a glass of champagne. ‘Swallows only nest in a house of Love’ she explained - how she came up with the motto and the logo for the fashion line. ‘When I discovered I had a swallows nesting in my roof, my mother said – don’t worry, because swallows only nest in a house of love – apparently! So it felt like a good omen.’

The genesis of the collection came at a time of transition for the designer according to Savannah; ‘I was working on the collection at Sienna’s house. I’d had my third baby a few months earlier and Sienna was pregnant herself. I wanted to design at her house because it was quiet and I could concentrate, away from all the swallows in the roof and bats in the belfry - but she’s great as a sounding board too’.

Savannah went on to say ‘Sienna always has her say when it comes to fashion. She somehow knows just what’s going to come next, I don’t know how. And she doesn't appear to put any thought into it either, she just knows. She gets dressed in one second flat, for example’.

Savannah also had a mention for her former employee at Twenty8Twelve - rising fashion star, Eudon Choi. 'I just think he's so wonderful. I told him that he should start his own line. Next thing I know - he's all over Selfridges. His collections are wonderful, they remind me of Celine.'

While we were at the party, we spotted Irina Lazareanu and Clara Paget, who were both modelling looks from the Savannah Miller collection. The girls launched into a very profound and detailed conversation about hair colour with ELLE; ‘I had never ever dyed my hair not once, and I’m 30 years old!’ Irina told us ‘but then, Marc Jacobs said; “we’re going to turn you black” and I thought OK! Why not?’

Not to be outdone, petite blonde actress Clara chipped in; ‘I’m going to go red next for a role. I’m so excited!’
