White Gowns

When was the last time you spotted an LBD on the red carpet? This year, the wardrobe classic seems to have been ousted by the new sartorial scene-stealer, the Hot White Gown (HWG). No, it doesn’t roll quite as easily off the tongue as LBD but yes, it will get you noticed. Which is why everyone – from Eva Longoria to Rihanna – is going for full-on white-out.

And we are all over the look. For full-on goddess effect make like Miranda Kerr and Rihanna and go for a gown with daring cutaways, topped off with siren red lipstick that’s anything but bridal. Eva Longoria and Virginie Ledoyen go for silver screen glamour with theirs, setting off their slinky bias-cut gowns (Emilio Pucci and Emporio Armani, respectively) with nothing more than a sparkling set of diamonds.

The lovely Cheryl Cole opts for a modern spin with her Victoria Beckham number and Eva Herzigova goes for megawatt glamour in a jewel encrusted gown. The message is loud and clear: you don’t have to be walking down an aisle to wear a hot white gown. Any old red carpet will do.
