Swimmer Simone Manuel just won the women's 100 meter freestyle, making her the first black woman to win an individual gold medal for Team USA in a swimming event.

She tied with Canada's Penny Oleksiak and both set an Olympic record time of 52.70 seconds. It was the first Olympics for both of the medalists.

Simone's reaction when she realized what happened was pure...gold (sorry). But really:

She broke out in tears, telling a NBC reporter of her history-making win, 'I just want to be inspiration to others that you can do it.'
