Six Things we learned in #ELLEIBIZA2013

After 4 full days of partying on the White island we must have learnt a thing or two...right?

1. Mirrored sunglasses are much better for hiding tired eyes.

There was barely a hipster at Beso Beach whose sunglasses weren’t brashly reflecting their friends’ gleaming bronzed bodies. When we go back we’ll be picking ours up from new Italian label Spektre.

2. Night times really are for sleeping

All the best parties are happening by day from now on. The Miami-style daytime clubs are wreaking havoc on the Ibicenco body clocks, with the main contenders being the new Defected Presents DFTD at Ushuaia Tower on Mondays (free entrance, up and coming music talent, pretty people); Pete Tong’s new event Le Grand Bazaar happening at the original Ushuaia on Fridays (think BIG: Pharrell is opening the event on July 5), and everyone’s favourite time-warp DC10 is still going strong for the season ahead.

3. Knowing your teriyaki from your maki is key

The fabled San Juan restaurant road is well worth a pilgrimage if you want to sample some of the best food on the island. But recently it’s been dubbed the Road to the Orient thanks to a strong concentration of Asian restaurants. Bambuddha Grove holds fort as the longest standing, and Sacca (run by the same folks as El Chiringuito) is due to open its flashy new doors in July, but in our opinion Nagai is up there with the best dining experiences on the island, thanks to its no-nonsense Japanese sushi chef, charming staff and a menu that will make you want to come straight back the next night.

4. You might not ever want to leave your hotel

You can check out every time you like but you just might never leave… especially if you’re booked into somewhere like Ushuaia Tower, which not only has champagne and oyster bars, steakhouses and sky high bars, but which throws some of the best parties on the island. And that’s if you even choose to leave your room, which is designed to be a party all in itself.

5. Clubbing is kind of an art form actually

Well it is when you hear what Bomba has planned for their season ahead. Manumission-style multi-disciplinary partying will return to the island once more as the show begins in the Cipriani restaurant with dancers masquerading as waiters and DJs masquerading as chefs, before the fun moves on to the new club. Damien Hirst takes on the visuals at Pete Tong’s new Friday parties at Ushuaia, and Enter continues to enthral with Richie Hawtin’s feasts for the senses at Space.

6. And one more.. you don't have to drink vodka limon anymore

The Experimental Cocktail Club has arrived. Start off your night with one of their gargantuan sharing champagne cocktails, and we guarantee you'll never look back
