As die hard Bridgerton fans rejoiced earlier this year when the ton returned to their screens via the self-titled Queen Charlotte origins story, there was one name on everyone's lips: Arsema Thomas. Starring as the young Lady Danbury aka Queen Charlotte's confidante and everyone's straight-talking favourite character, Thomas stole the show and Lady Whistledown's column inches. Although the Georgia-native might not rock a British accent in real life, her off-screen beauty routine is as charming and relatable as her period drama counterpart.
'I begged to have this leave-in conditioner on set,' Thomas tells ELLE UK while shooting the latest episode of '5 In 5'. 'It's really nice to bring your hair back to life especially if you're wearing wigs for six months straight. I don't think I saw my hair for all of last summer! So knowing that this was working underneath I knew my hair would still be there. I like to spray it in - it makes you feel like you're starting your day from scalp to toe.'
In stark contrast to Danbury's full beat and sky high wig, Thomas' day to day beauty look is lowkey and barely there. 'When I'm not wearing a full face of make-up, mascara is the number one thing I know will bring everything together. I love a thick lash. I used to read when I was a kid, in fashion magazines like ELLE, that if you jiggle the brush all the way up the lash it makes it longer. I think Eva Longoria said that...'
Even Netflix stars know a thing or two about making your beauty products multi-task. In Thomas' case, it's all about the brows. 'The beautiful part of your mascara running out is that it then becomes something for your eyebrows. So, right after I do my lashes, I don't put the brush back inside, I just use whatever is left to go over my brows. I love a defined brow. I feel like when you put on your eyebrows it feels like you've done the full job.'
A swift roll-on application of perfume oil (everywhere, including hands, wrists, and back of the neck) and she's ready to go. 'Vanilla is my favourite scent of all. When I was a kid I loved it so much I would soak myself in vanilla tea thinking that I would come out smelling like it and it did nothing of the sort!'
