Only Kristen Stewart – with the help of the best glam squad in the business – could have interpreted David Bowie-esque camp so brilliantly for the Met Gala’s 2019 theme.

While others wore elaborate headdresses, crystals and glitter, Stewart pulled off bold multicoloured beauty which both contrasted and complemented her monochrome Chanel outfit.

The hair was the work of stylist Adir Abergel and colourist Daniel Moon, who gave Stewart dark tones underneath and pale yellow in front, with 'Chanel red' through the middle mimicking the nail colour 'Arancio Vibrante'.

The inspiration? '70’s Bowie and the obscurity of gender, playing into both masculine and feminine extremism', explained Abergel.

'He got it so right and thank you for using virtuelabs ColorKick to keep her hair healthy,' Abergel wrote on Instagram. 'Also thank you David Bowie for always inspiring and for being the ultimate Camp.'

How To Do Kristen's Bowie-Inspired Met Gala Hair

To create the style, Abergel started with a strong middle part and saturated the hair with Virtue® Volumizing Primer to add memory and definition to the style.

He then blow-dried the hair using a Denman brush at the root and then rough dried mid to ends to keep her natural texture.

He then applied Virtue® Un-Frizz Cream onto the ends to make the look a bit more separated and to distinguish between the dark and light.

To finish the look, Abergel sprayed Virtue® Shaping Spray and diffused to lock in place.

Extending the theme, make-up artist Jillian Dempsey bleached out Stewart’s brows before painting them bright yellow, paired with white along the brow bone. All the make-up used was by Chanel, naturally, including products from the new Cruise Collection.
