The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have attended Royal Ascot together for the first time.
The newlyweds joined the Queen for day one of the annual horse-racing event, where they presented a trophy after the 4.20pm race, the St James’ Palace Stakes, according to the official programme.
For the occasion, Markle wore a white dress by Givenchy (similar here), which is quickly becoming her favoured designer, teamed with a Givenchy black belt around her waist.
She accessorised the look with a black clutch bag, matching court shoes and Birks Pétale yellow gold and diamond stud earrings.
In-keeping with the Royal Enclosure's style guide, Markle completed her Ascot outfit with a monochrome hat by London-based milliner Philip Treacy.
The strict dress code states that ladies must wear a hat or headpiece which has a solid base of 4 inches, while dresses and skirts should fall just above the knee or longer. The latest addition to the guidelines states that the Bardot-style neckline, worn by Markle to Trooping the Colour earlier this month, is no longer permitted in the top enclosure.
During Royal Ascot, the Queen rides in the carriage procession each day, along with other members of the royal family and a number of special guests. The new Duke and Duchess shared a carriage with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, while Princess Beatrice and Eugenie joined the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
The Duchess of Cambridge didn't attend the race meeting with Prince William until 2016, when the royals celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday. The couple also attended last year, when Kate wore an elegant Alexander McQueen dress. With the Duchess now on maternity leave, it's unclear whether we'll see her get dressed up for a day at the races this week.
