As the internet goes wild for Phoebe Philo's latest (and long-awaited) eponymous fashion brand, I've scoured resale sites for the best Philo designs of days gone by.
Phoebe Philo, the brand, is set to release their second edit today after the blockbuster hit of the first drop, just a month ago.
Think 'Quiet Luxury', think tongue-in-cheek jewellery, think... lots of 'sold out' signs and a bit more money than your mortgage adviser might recommend spending on a pair of combat trousers (they just don't get it).
Thankfully, prior to the British designer's long hiatus, Philo lead not one, but two fashion houses to much acclaim, namely Chloé (2001 to 2006) and Céline (2008 to 2017).
After working under Stella McCartney at Chloé, the Central Saint Martins graduate kicked off the 21st century as Creative Director at the French fashion house, taking it from strength to strength. Her stand-out designs were undoubtedly the Paddington bag and the Kate Moss-adored banana print, but, so many of her playful and feminine designs still feel fresh to this day.
After a brief career pause, Philo jumped ship to become Céline's Creative Director, a role that would become her most celebrated tenure. With an almost endless list of pre-viral viral designs (alphabet necklaces, scarf print shirts, the Luggage bag, furry shoes... we could go on), her expert mix of humorous, wearable and luxury pieces saw the designer heralded as one of the only creatives who really knew what women wanted to wear.
That's why, instead of taunting myself with new Phoebe Philo pieces I can't afford, I took to the resale sites, to collate the best Philo-era Céline and Chloé the preloved world has to offer.
