Alber trims the Claridge's tree

‘The concept of the Christmas tree decoration is to create an installation that carries the spirit of Lanvin, an infusion of tradition and modernity at the same time,’ Elbaz said in a statement. ‘The tree is to emanate and bring heartwarming joy to all who work and stay as guests at Claridge’s hotel: It’s my way to wish them a very merry Christmas.’

In a super-Elbaz touch, he has created the angel at the top of the tree in his own image. See the tuxedo-wearing, winged figure at the top of the tree in the sketch? That's him.

‘It is simply wonderful to see this talented designer decorate the tree in his whimsical style,’ Claridge’s General Manager Thomas Kochs added.

Elbaz’s Christmas cheer is the latest in a long line of designer trees for the London hotel. John Galliano created trees in 2009 and 2010—last year, he presented a white and silver under-the-sea-themed vision, complete with coral, sea horses and jellyfish.
