Whether it's jumbo polka dot, leopard print or abstract florals, larger-than-life print rarely leaves the spotlight - even as we trudge into autumn/winter. But, I must confess: I dress deliberately basic.

Various shades of beige, black, white and grey constitute my wardrobe, and although I try to incorporate a splash of bold colour now and again, I often let my accessories do the talking.

Think drawstring bucket bags, oversized earrings and ruched, silk headbands. An accessory with the potential to uplift and enhance an everyday outfit gives you an air of well-deserved confidence.

Now that I'm gravitating towards subtle, naturalistic prints, my formerly neutral wardrobe is practically jumping for joy.

The latest savvy H&M collaboration has arrived at just the right time utilising recognisable William Morris prints. He revolutionised style in Victorian Britain, and Morris' love of the natural world had a growing influence on his work.

His career led to a striking collection of handmade wallpapers, textiles and embroideries still very much admired today - and it's no surprise that his celebrated work from the world of interiors has been brought into a fashion collection.

We've been textile printing in Europe as early as the 12th-Century, but just how trend-led are the statements at the top of my wish-list?

The mini bag

Forget carrying everything but the kitchen sink - there are definitely some things you can leave at home. I'm loving a statement cross-body mini bag to add a splash of colour and texture to my outfits.

The printed trousers

If you don't feel comfortable in an entirely statement outfit, a pair of patterned trousers require minimal styling effort. I'll be wearing these with a plain tee and trainers or dressing them up for evening with a polo neck and chunky boots.

The silk headband

Popular on the runway, use your inner Blair Waldorf to battle those Autumn elements. I'm looking forward to pairing a sleek up-do with a twisted, floral headband - stylish and slightly wind-proof for your hair.

The bold print scarf

A scarf is a winter staple but I'm starting the season with a light, checked piece to enhance a neutral outfit. I'm not ready for a chunky knit as of yet, but just you wait.

Who knew prints were so versatile?
