There's a lot going on for autumn/winter 2019. It's the return of the '90s, the '80s and the '70s. And not forgetting Big Dress Energy, oversized coats, feathered shoes and monster clutches. It's hard to know where to start. (And whether any of that is going to work with your 10 Breton tops, battered old Converse and five pairs of mom jeans.)
But before you hit the high street running, to offer a little inspiration we've asked the experts what they'll be shopping for the new season, and picked out our favourite pieces from the new Very collection.
"A boilersuit is still a key piece for autumn and it’s the perfect way to breach the change in temperature. It covers enough skin to protect you from the cooler weather without meaning you have to resort to tights just yet. "I’m going for the '70s look this autumn. Think vintage prints like paisley, dark florals and moodier tones such as oxblood. To achieve the modern boho look, I'll layer a thin turtle neck top underneath a maxi wrap dress with long sleeves and style both with snake print boots. I would add a large buckle belt to accentuate the vintage feel of the whole look. "They may have a slightly dodgy past (sometimes they do stray too close to the skort), but I love a cool pair of culottes, possibly because I’m only 5ft 3 ½” so anything that’s a bit cropped is a bonus.
