Over the weekend the internet was awash with old headshots of famous celebs. Reese Witherspoon, Emma Watson and Kristen Bell all got in on the action, posting their most adorable and cringe-worthy snaps of years gone by.

Another actress to join in the fun was child-star extraordinaire Miley Cyrus.

The now 25 years-old singer is famed for her unapologetic style and attitude, that comes complete with a healthy dose of nudity and an unabashed love of weed smoking.

Unfortunately, as a Disney kid, she was under a tremendous amount of public scrutiny.

Cyrus was famously photographed by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair when she was 15 years-old. The shoot saw her covered with just a sheet. Many thought the semi-nude picture inappropriate and both Leibovitz and Cyrus released apologies.

The Hannah Montana star told People at the time, ‘My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honoured and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be "artistic" and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.’

The statement continued, ‘The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.

'Most of all,' she says, 'I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life’s journey.'

Now Cyrus has gone back on that crafted statement, telling her Instagram followers, ‘IM NOT SORRY…FUCK YOU…#10YearsAgo'

She's no wallflower our Miley, is she?
