A man stalking Rihanna has been arrested after breaking into her home and staying for 12 hours, the BBC has reported. Eduardo Leon was found in the singer's Los Angeles house by her assistant after breaking in on Wednesday 9 May.

Leon has been charged with stalking, first-degree residential burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest, US prosecutors have confirmed. He is due to appear in court on Monday.

TMZ reported that Leon told police he was there to "have sex with Rihanna" and when he was found, had reportedly unpacked a bag and was charging his phone. This was his second attempt at breaking into her home. A week earlier, he is said to have broken into another house in the area, thinking it was Rihanna's.

The singer was not at home during the time of the incident, when the suspect reportedly climbed a fence and entered her house, before disabling the alarm system.

If convicted, Leon will face up to six years in prison.
