In the nearly-two months since Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum announced their amicable separation, both have been adjusting to their new lives as single people, coparenting their 4-year-old daughter Everly. Dewan spoke to HarpersBazaar.com in a new interview about their relationship and this new chapter for herself.
She and Tatum have "a new normal where there is a lot of love," where they're learning to take care of their daughter together with a new flow. "We’re just getting used to it. We're in a very positive energy together, trying to be the best parents to Everly. We support each other."
Dewan's career is also busy: she's hosting World of Dance, has a new film, Berlin, I Love You, coming out, has been cast in Fox musical drama pilot Mixtape, and has a production company, Everheart, where she's involved in several projects. "The moves I'm making are completely not related to my marriage or separation, interestingly enough," she told HBZ. "I was always very happy being a wife."
She grappled with bigger questions though, which sparked her new projects: "'Who are you? What do you want to give to the world? What excites you?' Those feelings started bubbling up for me, naturally… so I really wanted to expand my life, and myself. And that was my journey, no one else's."
Being on her own, "I feel a sense of joy and freedom and excitement, truly, about a new chapter in my life," Dewan said. "And I have no attachments to how that's going to look, or what that's going to be. I feel really open, and I feel hopeful."
