Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may already have a big trip planned for their first summer vacation as a married couple, but it's not a luxe tropical getaway. The couple will likely spend a few days with the Queen at Balmoral Castle, the royal residence in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, People reports.

Her Majesty is already on-site at the castle and won't return to London until early October, according to People. While the Queen is catching her R&R, other members of the royal family usually come up to visit. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to have a slow few weeks ahead, which means they'll have time to stop by the country estate.

Balmoral Castle is one of the royal family's two private residences that belong to the monarchy, according to the royals' website. It was bought by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1852 and has remained with the Crown ever since. The sprawling property is over 50,000 acres and includes a private theater, a ballroom, and expansive gardens, according to The Telegraph.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip often brought their children here when they were growing up. Now, the royal couple returns here every year for the summer and welcome royal relatives as guests. The activities often include hunting, hiking, picnics, and barbecues, People reports. Meghan is surely in for a busy trip.

But before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex go trekking up to Scotland, they'll make an appearance at their friend Charlie van Straubenzee's wedding this weekend. The couple is also set to celebrate Meghan's 37th birthday this Saturday.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are also expected to make the trip to Balmoral. They usually go in early September, per People, but because the kids will start school around that time, they'll likely swing by earlier. The Cambridges have already kicked off their vacation with a trip to the private Caribbean island of Mustique.
