Meghan Markle has reportedly begun her personal solo trip abroad, arriving in Toronto Sunday before she’s said to be heading to New York and Los Angeles to visit friends and family. But although she will be seeing her mom Doria Ragland in LA—and will be only 150 miles from her father Thomas, The Mirror pointed out—Meghan is said to have no plans to see him or to try to reconcile with him after he gave more interviews trash-talking her and the royal family this weekend.
In fact, despite reports last week that the Palace was considering a more aggressive strategy to handle Thomas and Meghan’s half-siblings speaking to the press, Meghan and Harry have no plan to release another statement about him, sources told The Sunday Times.
“Meghan doesn’t think it’s a fair game between her father and the media so she’s not going to engage in it or instruct anyone on her behalf to set the record straight,” one source said.
The outlet also got a gauge on how the royal family is reacting, with a source close to Prince Charles telling them that “the prince will be very sympathetic towards Meghan and the difficult situation she is in. But I suspect the Queen will be rolling her eyes and thinking: crikey, what is going to become of all this?”
A source told The Mirror that the entire Thomas Markle drama has been stressful for Meghan. "No one wants this saga to continue for her," the source said. “Hopefully she can find some way of seeking a resolution with her father but going back to her roots for a few days is exactly what she needs right now. Time will tell what the process for any type of relationship may be but as long as they keep hurting her, it becomes more and more unlikely they will be able to have any type of relationship.”
