Fans are pretty exited to have spotted Emma Watson on set of the Greta Gerwig-directed adaptation of Little Women.

Oscar-nominated Gerwig is having a whack at the dramatic tale, and it looks like she’s got quite the line-up.

Watson, who was snapped on set hopping out of a horse-drawn carriage holding a carpet bag in historical get-up, is said to play the eldest sister, Meg.

Meg is described in the novel as the most beautiful and traditional of the girls, and it is reported that Emma Stone was originally attached to the part, before needing to step away due to other filming commitments.

Following on from their Lady Bird success, Variety reports that Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalet are part of the project (hopefully as Jo and Laurie) as well as Meryl Streep and Laura Dern (probably as Marmee and Aunt March) and Florence Pugh (we’re guessing she’s Amy).

Leaving the part of Beth unaccounted for.

The book, a favourite of the fictional Rachel Green and subsequently Joey Tribbiani from Friends, was written in two volumes in 1868 and 1869 by Louise May Alcott.

Charting the coming-of-age of four sisters in late 19th Century (post civil war) America, the book is a classic, with multiple adaptations including the infamous 1994 film starring Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst, Winona Ryder and Claire Danes amongst others.

Gerwig's adaptation is set to be released in 2019 and we cannot wait.
