Last night should have been an untarnished and perfect evening for Lady Gaga.

The performer, who won a Golden Globe just last week for her song (alongside her co-writers) 'Shallow', though missed out on her Best Actress award (to Glenn Close) had her dreams come true at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Thankfully, the A Star Is Born actress picked up both accolades on Sunday night, with a joint win of Best Actress with The Wife star Glenn Close.

'I’m so honoured by this. I went to places in my mind and in my heart that I did not know existed…this is a tremendous honour. I feel recognised not just for my performance but for the inner work it took in the creation of this character.' Gaga said in her acceptance speech, continuing, ‘Bradley, you are a magical film maker, and you are just as magical of a human being. I have never had an experience with a director or an actor like I had with you and I will cherish it forever. You were seamlessly both the love of my life, and the man behind the camera…It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. To relive something that I’m not quite sure I wanted to relive but I was able to be vulnerable in a way that I never have before because of that love and that trust.'

The singer dedicated her win to those who suffered with alcohol abuse, and received a standing ovation.

Unfortunately, this epic and moving moment swiftly came to an end when the 32 year-old found out her beloved horse, Arabella, was gravely ill.

Taking to social media the New Yorker explained:

I am so honoured and blessed to have won both Best Song and Best Actress alongside Glenn Close this evening. My heart is exploding with pride. But it saddens me to say that just after the show I learned that my dead angel of a horse, Arabella, is dying. I am rushing to her now to say goodbye. Her name means ‘yield to prayer’. She is and was a beautiful horse. Our souls and spirits were one. When she was in pain, so was I. I will never forget the moments we shared. Long hikes together, galloping through the canyons. Feeding her cookies. She will forever be a part of me. I am so very sad. But I wish for your pain to end, and the gates of heaven to open for. I love you. Girl, where do you think you’re goin?

After sharing pictures of her gorgeous horse and this statement, fans have flooded to her page to send their condolences and well-wishes.

We're sending our love too Lady Gaga.
