Sophie Turner got engaged to Joe Jonas when she was just 21 years old, after almost a year of dating him. The Game of Thrones actress has kept her relationship mostly to herself, although she did tell Rolling Stone in its new cover story that there was a reason she felt comfortable with the idea of getting married so young. It all has to do with Jonas.

Turner, who turned 23 last month, said that before she met him, she hadn't envisioned herself getting engaged in her early twenties or maybe even ever. “I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,” she said. “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know. I feel like I’m much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I’ve lived enough life to know. I’ve met enough guys to know—I’ve met enough girls to know. I don’t feel 22. I feel like 27, 28.”

Turner also explained with a shrug, regarding the "girls" part, that “everyone experiments. It’s part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender."

Turner is set to marry Jonas later this year. She recently spoke to Glamour UK about how much Jonas, who's 29, makes her happy. “A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness," she told the publication. "That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am and find my happiness in things other than acting.”
