At the end of March, 26 year-old Zayn Malik declared his love for ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid on Twitter.

The ‘Dusk Til Dawn’ singer posted the 23 year-old model’s handle with ‘love you’ next to it, before swiftly deleting it.

Since then, the former One Directioner has gone on to Tweet and delete again, reportedly writing, ‘I'd like [to] apologise for basically being a s**t person’ to his 28.2 million followers.

Now, Hadid has spoken out about the difficulties of sharing personal things on social media, particularly as a famous person.

In an interview with Variety, the eldest Hadid child talked about stepping away from social media platforms, particularly when discussing personal issues.

‘I have days where I don’t feel like sharing,’ Hadid explained, ‘There’s kind of this ebb and flow of this acceptance of social media as a apart of my life. I’m not always ready to share - and I think that that’s something that a lot of people feel on a daily basis.’

‘I’ve just tried to be more honest and genuine with myself in my use of social media,’ she continued, ‘and I really feel grateful that my fans and the people that follow me have recognised that when maybe I’m sharing more work and not as much personally, obviously it’s not anything cold towards them, it’s just where I’m at mentally. I think they know that when I’m ready to share I do, and I try and be as open as I can.’
