Fans are speculating Meghan Markle is in labour after Prince Harry cancels his recently-announced trip to the Netherlands.

The Daily Mail reports that a spokesman for the Duke declared: 'Due to the logistical planning for the travelling press to cover visits and engagements by The Royal Family, we have taken the decision to postpone The Duke of Sussex's scheduled visit to Amsterdam on Wednesday 8th May 2019.

'The Duke is currently scheduled to travel to The Hague on Thursday 9th May for the launch of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 as planned.'

01/05/19: So, Prince Harry Is Off To The Netherlands Next Week...

Royal fans speculating over the royal baby's arrival might be a tad confused by this latest turn of events.

On Wednesday (1 May), Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry will travel to the Netherlands next week on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 May. While there, he will visit Amsterdam on an official engagement and then will go to The Hague to launch the one year countdown to the Invictus Games, which will take place in the city in 2020.

Many royal fans have expected the palace to announce the birth of Meghan and Harry's first baby imminently given the expected due date was in the Spring, which many took to mean April or May.

So, what does this mean?

On Twitter, there was immediate speculation. Is the due date actually later than originally anticipated, or do the palace expect the baby to have been born by then?

It is widely expected that Prince Harry will take paternity leave after the arrival of his first child. Prince William did the same when his three children George, Charlotte and Louis were born.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl, who has written a book about Harry, previously told Time: 'It is quite normal for royal fathers to take paternity leave. Certainly with the modern royals, it is just very much something they do.

'We don’t know how long he’s going to take, whether it will just be the standard two weeks or possibly longer. But certainly, he will be taking paternity leave.'
