Jessica Alba has revealed that she "stopped eating" early on in her career in an attempt to stop unwanted male attention.

The actress has admitted that she limited her eating in an attempt to make herself appear more boyish, because she felt “preyed upon” by men when she was first starting out.

Alba explained during an appearance at Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop health summit that her family encouraged her not to wear Pepe Jeans as she was already “voluptuous” and had a “booty”.

“I was meant to feel ashamed if I tempted men,” said the 38-year-old. “Then I stopped eating a lot, when I became an actress. I made myself look more like a boy so I wouldn’t get as much attention.”

Alba realised that this wasn't a healthy outlook once she gave birth to her daughter Honor, ten years ago.

“That was the dopest shit I’d ever done, so I was like ‘Yes.’ So then I came into my body as a woman finally.”

Alba has previously spoken about the sexism she’s faced in Hollywood and the boardroom as the founder of the consumer goods company The Honest Company.

“Certainly people in Hollywood underestimated me. They absolutely, 100% thought I was nuts,” she told The Edit.

“But as a woman, as an actress, I’ve dealt with that before. I’ve dealt with people undermining me; I’ve dealt with people thinking that I would do anything to get ahead and be successful.”

Gwyneth Paltrow is bringing her lifestyle brand Goop to London for a wellness summit in June, exploring what it really means to feel well - mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Tickets are available for the Goop summit on 29 and 30 June for £1,000 on goop.com. Full weekend experience tickets are available, including a two-night stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy, Friday evening cocktails, a VIP workout session with Tracy Anderson and more wellness perks throughout the weekend.
