Melania Trump’s home country of Slovenia has blessed her with a carved wooden statue in her...well, sort of likeness. The statue in the Trump’s hometown of Sevnica was revealed this week, modeled after the First Lady’s look during the 2018 inauguration, and the reviews are mixed at best.

Slovenian artist Ales Zupevc was commissioned for the work, which was designed by U.S. artist Brade Downey. Zupevc was reportedly given free reign for the piece, which he carved using a chainsaw. Twitter isn’t the only place where people are on the fence about the new addition as some residents of the town are calling it 'a disgrace.'

'The sculptor worked a long time on this,' a resident told Reuters. 'And she does not look as beautiful as she normally is.'

Others weren’t as tactful while offering their opinion, with another person saying, 'It doesn’t look anything like Melania. It’s a Smurfette. It’s a disgrace.'

'I can understand why people might think that this falls short as a description of her physical appearance,' Downey admitted to AFP, but ultimately called the finished product 'absolutely beautiful.'

So far it’s unclear if Trump has seen the sculpture, so she has yet to offer her opinion on it, but the world readily anticipates her response.
