The Politician landed on Netflix in September, telling the story of a wealthy student from California, Payton Hobart, who wants to become President of the United States of America.

Created by Ryan Murphy, the brains behind American Crime Story and American Horror Story, the show has been described as comedy and satire and is a 'rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician'.

Murphy is a very busy, and talented, man who will soon be working on the next series in the American Crime Story franchise, Impeachment, which will tell the story of the 1998 Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal with Booksmart's Beanie Feldstein playing Lewinsky, who will serve as an executive producer for the show.

The hugely impressive cast for his adaptation of The Prom has also been announced, starring Meryl Streep, Ariana Grande and Nicole Kidman.

After the streaming service teased The Politician for a few months, releasing the first look images for the show and trailer, it finally arrived and here's everything you need to know about The Politician:

A big part of the reason Paltrow conceded to stepping away from Goop temporarily was due to her husband, Brad Falchuk's, persuasive techniques as he is a co-creator of the show.

'It took some convincing,' Falchuk told The Hollywood Reporter. 'A lot of convincing.'

Paltrow revealed how Falchuk described his wife as the 'muse' for the character. After initially saying no due to Goop commitments, the production team orchestrated the filming schedule around Paltrow's work.

Bohemian Rhapsody's Lucy Boynton also stars in the film and told THR the cast have already become good friends.

Also starring is Zoey Deutch, Jessica Lange, Mad Men's January Jones and legendary singer Bette Midler.
