Update: Kensington Palace Releases Official Photo Of Princess Charlotte's First Day Of School
After Princess Charlotte of Cambridge started school this morning (Thursday 5 September), the palace released an official portrait of the young royal, with her brother George, to mark the occasion.
The photo was taken at the family home in Kensington Palace shortly before Charlotte and George, accompanied by their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, left for the big day at Thomas's Battersea.
Taken on the steps of their home, Charlotte can be seen grinning, and looking very excited for the important day, while putting her arms around her big brother, who goes into Year 2 this year.

The first day of school is a nerve-wracking experience for most people, but Princess Charlotte looks like she's got this whole thing down.
The young royal was joined by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and her elder brother Prince George who has been at Thomas's school in Battersea for two years for her first day of lessons on Thursday (5 September).
Holding onto her mother, Kate Middleton's hand, Charlotte was seen smiling as the pair walked alongside six-year-old George who held onto his father, Prince William for his return to school after the summer holidays.
The family were greeted by a teacher, who shook all of their hands, before leading them into the school.
According to William, Charlotte was 'very excited' to start school after a few years of nursery.
The Duchess of Cambridge was wearing a belted floral midi dress by Michael Kors for her daughter's big day, which she paired with black heels and an envious blow-dried hairstyle.
The pictures are a slight contrast to when George first started school in 2017. Joined by the Duke of Cambridge on his first day, George looked understandably nervous as he made his first few steps towards a teacher who then him and his father into the school in front of one waiting camera.
This is no doubt a special moment for the Duchess of Cambridge as she was forced to miss George's first day of school as she was suffering from the acute morning sickness condition hyperemesis gravidarum while pregnant with one-year-old Prince Louis.
Now that it's September, it's back to usual business for the family after they recently took a trip to Scotland to visit the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at Balmoral.
