Angelina Jolie has had many a show-stopping sartorial moment.
From the the satin and sheer slip dresses of the Nineties and the leg-popping Atelier Versace moment of 2012 Oscars to the Saint Laurent deconstructed tuxedo at the 2014 BAFTA Awards, and her appearances wearing spookily embellished gowns for the Maleficent 2 publicity tour, Jolie knows how to command a red carpet camera like no other.
Becoming a mother to her six children though changed Jolie's stance on style. In a December 2023 interview with WSJ. Magazine, Jolie admitted: 'My daughter tells me I wear too many trench coats. And I know there are certain things they wouldn’t want me to wear. I think I stopped wearing certain things when I had teenagers.'
It's not unusual for the actress to bring along her brood of discerning children to premieres, award ceremonies and charity galas either. And it looks like several of her children also have their eyes set on Hollywood.
In August 2022, the Oscar-winner revealed to People that she'd hired her sons to work on a new film Without Blood, based on a 2002 novel by Alessandro Barrico.
'We work well together,' Jolie told the news outlet. When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural.'
Pax and Maddox reportedly worked in the assistant director department, meaning they'll work next to Jolie, who is directing the film. Jolie said Pax has 'worked hard' on the film. He and Maddox also worked with Jolie on 2017 drama First They Killed My Father and Maddox also helped out on 2015 romance drama By The Sea.
Broadway is also within these ambitious kids' sights. Jolie's youngest daughter, Vivienne, is currently working on The Outsiders, a musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s 1967 novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 movie. Jolie is the show's producer, while her 15-year-old daughter is on board as a volunteer assistant.
In April 2024, the pair posed for pictures with the cast and were spotted out and about shopping in New York. 'Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,' Jolie said in a statement in 2023. 'She’s very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.'
In April 2021, Jolie spoke about how she navigates her career while raising her children, who she co-parents with her ex husband Brad Pitt following their 2016 separation. Jolie said she is more selective about the projects she chooses and has opted more for acting work rather than directing because this allows her to spend more time with her family.
'I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that's not made it possible for me to direct for a few years,' the actor told Entertainment Weekly. 'I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That's really the truth of it.'
A month later, she described her brood as 'cool people'. 'We're such a team so I am very, very lucky,' Jolie told E!'s Daily Pop. 'I'm always the one who worries but I don't worry about them. They're cool people.'
In May 2021 the actor opened up to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show about how she's spent more time at home in recent years, noting: 'The last few years I haven't been able to direct. I've been home much more. I've done a few films but I've been mostly been home.
'They're very important years to be home. It's a certain time for our family when I've needed to be home but these are the years when they're really growing into adults. I'm happy to be there and try to make sure... I do the best that I can.'

Angelina Jolie has six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
On November 5, 2022, Jolie posted photos with her daughter Zahara at the Brooklyn Museum. The mother-daughter duo visited the Death to the Living: Long Live Trash exhibition, by the artist Duke Riley.
The event is designed to draw attention to marine pollution, a subject Jolie is passionate about. The artist showed them around, giving the pair an intimate tour of his creations.
At the time, Jolie was wearing a long black coat styled with boots and a large brown leather bag, and her daughter a long-sleeved black T-shirt and jeans.
The actor captioned the photos: 'Z and I went to see the @dukerileystudio exhibition at the Brooklyn museum.
'In Duke's latest show at the Brooklyn Museum, DEATH TO THE LIVING, Long Live Trash, his reinterpretations of maritime folk art - made using trash removed from the ocean - expose plastic pollution that, along with climate change and habitat loss, are pushing our oceanic ecosystems to collapse.'
She shared photos of the art, which included paintings, sculptures and repurposed plastic objects.
On October 22, 2022, Jolie was pictured visiting Zahara at college, after announcing that her daughter would be going to the highly ranked institution in August, and dropping her off on campus in the same month.
Jolie was seen on the Atlanta, Georgia, campus with Zahara, and students and alumni shared photos of the mother-daughter duo during the school's homecoming weekend.
Alum Crystal Toussant revealed that she discussed Zahara's time at the college so far when meeting with her and Jolie. 'I spoke to Zahara & Angelina about her Spelman Experience!! She said she loves Spelman,' Toussant wrote on Twitter.
'I am so happy for her. Spelman is my happy place. The vessel that delivers young girls into extraordinary women who change the world.'
When sharing in August that Zahara would be attending the college, Jolie posted a picture of her daughter with her peers at the Los Angeles send-off party.
In an accompanying caption, she wrote: 'Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honour to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.'
In September 2022, Jolie was pictured out on a shopping trip with her son Pax. The Maleficent star looked effortlessly smart despite going to buy dog supplies at The Urban Pet in Los Angeles.
Jolie and her son complemented each other, with the actor in a plain white T-shirt, silky high-waist wide-leg trousers and sleek flatforms. She accessorised with her go-to Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello quilted lambskin tote, dark-tinted aviator sunglasses and gold diamond jewellery.
Pax also donned a pink T-shirt, relaxed black trousers, white trainers and a baseball cap.
Their outing followed news that the 18-year-old is serving as assistant director for his mum's upcoming film Without Blood - her firth directional project.
In August 2022, Jolie and Vivienne enjoyed a bonding moment while at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia to watch the Dear Evan Hansen broadway show.
Jolie and Vivienne posed with star Anthony Norman backstage after the performance, which were posted on the Dear Evan Hansen Instagram account.
According to People, the 47-year-old took her 15-year-old daughter to the Philadelphia show 'just to see it again' since Vivienne 'loved the show so much' when they saw it for the first time in Los Angeles.
Referring to the mother-daughter-duo, a source told the same publication: 'They were lovely and gracious, and [they] gushed about [actor] Anthony Norman's performance as Evan.'
For the occasion Jolie donned a demure waist-tie dress which she accessorised with black sunglasses and a Saint Laurent crossbody bag, meanwhile a giddy Vivienne wore a sweatshirt and baggy jeans. She also appeared to be holding the arm cast worn by Hansen's character Evan during the performance.
In November 2021 Jolie was photographed walking the red carpet with her son Pax and daughter Shiloh at the premiere of Paper & Glue in Los Angeles. The trio were joined by the artist JR.
The mother and children looked casual, with the actor wearing a simple black midi dress, Shiloh dressed in a black hoodie and jeans and Pax wearing a checked shirt and jeans.

In October 2021 the actor walked the red carpet at the London premiere of her upcoming Marvel Studios' film Eternals with five of her children, minus Pax.
For the occasion her Shiloh borrowed her black-and-white Dior dress, worn by the award winner two years before. The teen up-cycled the look by shortening its length, gathering the straps and embellishing the top.
Days earlier the proud mum stepped out on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere for her film with her brood.
For the occasion the family wore a range of neutral outfits in shades of black, beige and brown. However, we couldn't help but notice the actor's daughter Zahara was photographed wearing her mother's 2014 Academy Awards dress - an Elie Saab Couture champagne-hued gown.
'My kids are all mixed with vintage, and in my old Oscars dress,' Jolie told Entertainment Tonight. 'We did all vintage and upcycled my old stuff.'

In her exclusive essay for ELLE's September issue in 2019, Jolie wrote of her pride for her children.
'I could not be prouder of my sons for the men they are becoming, the way they respect their sisters and are respected by them...,' she penned.
'I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds. You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn’t matter what you wear on the outside if your mind isn’t strong. There is nothing more attractive – you might even say enchanting – than a woman with an independent will and her own opinions.'
Maddox Jolie-Pitt
Maddox is Angelina's first child, who she adopted from Cambodia in 2002 when he was seven months old. Now, 21, he previously enrolled at university in Seoul, South Korea - something Jolie said makes her so proud of him.
'I feel my world expands as their world expands, I'm excited. Maddox was so ready,' she told ET.
Pax Jolie-Pitt
Pax was adopted by Jolie from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam when he was three years old in 2007. The teen attended the 2018 Golden Globes with his mother.
Zahara Jolie-Pitt
Angelina Jolie first welcomed a daughter into her life in 2005, when she adopted Zahara from Ethiopia.
In December 2021, Jolie was joined by Zahara, now 17, to champion an important cause regarding the safety of women in the US.
The mother-and-daughter duo visited lawmakers in Washington, D.C in support of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), first signed by President Bill Clinton in 1994.
Zahara is seemingly following in her mum’s footsteps when it comes to activism, with Jolie sharing a photo of them from their female advocacy trip.
The pictures posted on Jolie's Instagram account included one of her with daughter Zahara and Texas-based Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, who is co-sponsor of the Senate for Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization.
Other photos were taken at her meeting with Senator Lisa Murkowski, co-sponsor of the same organisation in Alsaka.
The actor's final photo in the round-up was of her at a working session at the Embassy of Tribal Nations.
At the time, she was with Kerri Colfer, Senior Native Affairs Advisor for National Indigenous Women’s Resource Centre in Tlingit, as well as Kelbie Kennedy, who works for the National Congress of American Indians Policy Counsel in Choctaw.
In the accompanying caption, Jolie wrote: 'Honoured to visit Washington, DC, with Zahara, working with advocates and lawmakers to modernise and strengthen the #ViolenceAgainstWomenAct to include protections for children’s health and safety, communities of colour, tribes, LGBTQ survivors, rural areas, and all survivors.'
Jolie, who founded the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, dedicated to tackling issues such as severe rural poverty and preserving the environment and wildlife in Northwestern Cambodia, concluded by addressing the reforms needed to make positive changes.
These include judicial training, court procedures that alleviate children being at harm, all-inclusive technology and impartial forensic evidence.
The longtime supporter of social causes also directed people to the VAWA page, encouraging support of the cause.
In October 2021, Zahara attended the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil premieres with her mother sporting what is reportedly her own jewellery designs.
And back in September 2021 the teenager walked the red carpet with her famous mum at Variety's Power Of Women gala in Beverly Hills.
She wore a white blouse, ivory-coloured trousers and trainers, while her mother was dressed in a hazelnut-coloured pleated high-neck dress, while honoree poet Amanda Gorman stunned in a strappy floor-length pink number.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
Angelina gave birth to her first child with ex-husband Brad Pitt in Namibia in 2007.
In early January 2023, Jolie and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt were spotted grabbing a coffee with Normal People star Paul Mescal.
The mother and daughter were photographed with the actor at the Almeida Theatre café after they had seen him perform in A Streetcar Named Desire there. Page Six shared a fan photo of the catch up, which you can see here, and sees Mescal wearing a red T-shirt, while Jolie is dressed in black.
In May 2022 a video of Shiloh dancing to Lizzo's hit single 'About Damn Time' circulated the Internet. In the clip the teenager can be seen busting a move during a choreography class.
Perez Hilton later shared the video (which you can view here) on his Instagram account with the caption: 'She knew she was being filmed, by the way. And she’s GREAT! [sic]'

In February 2022, Jolie posted a heartfelt, intimate photo of herself with her daughter Shiloh in Cambodia, meanwhile sharing insights about their trip to support MJP Foundation.
Jolie's caption read: 'A few days in Cambodia among the warm local people, and I feel my soul is recovering [sic].'
'This has always been a special country for me and our family. Happy to be reunited with friends and colleagues at MJP Foundation in Samlot district. Angelina and Brad's youngest children are twins, their son and daughter Knox and Vivienne who were born in Nice, France in 2008.

When Vivienne was five she starred in Angelina's film Maleficent as the young Aurora to Elle Fanning's character. However, Angelina later said that her youngest daughter's stint as an actress was short-lived.
'Vivienne still can’t believe I made her a princess,' Angelina told People. 'She likes her overalls, I can’t put her in a dress. So she’s like, "How could you make me a princess?"'
Angelina clarified that none of her children want to follow in their parents' footsteps into Hollywood, instead having expressed desires to work in the humanitarian or business fields.
