Kensington Palace has shared a series of photos of Prince Louis to celebrate his second birthday.

In photos taken by his mother Kate Middleton earlier this month, the young Prince is seen hand-painting rainbows, likely to join in with the breadth of children across the country painting rainbows to thank the NHS for their tireless work during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Last night, the palace released four photos of Louis smiling with the paint on his hands as well as his finished artwork.

This morning, the Kensington Palace Instagram account thanked followers for their well-wishes to the youngest member of the Cambridge family by also sharing outtakes from the photoshoot.

Another member of the royal family to share birthday sentiments was Louis' grandfather Prince Charles who shared a touching black and white photo of himself giving Louis a hug in the garden, which was also taken by keen photographer Kate.

Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge discussed quarantining with their three children George, Charlotte and Louis in a rare interview with the BBC.

The couple spoke of the ups and downs of home-schooling while sharing that they have also been keeping their children entertained with activities like baking and pitching tents outside.

'The children have got such stamina. I don't know how, honestly,' Kate told interviewer Tina Daheley. 'You get to the end of the day, they've had a lovely time but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day that's for sure.'

The couple also discussed how they have been staying in touch with the rest of the royal family explaining that, just like most other families around the world right now, they have been video calling with grandparents and other relatives - which can prove tricky with a toddler like Louis.

'I think your father and my parents and our families have really loved keeping in touch with the children because they know it's really hard,' said Kate. '... I'm not going to lie, it gets a bit hectic with the two-year-old,' to which William explained that Louis is always tempted to press the red button.
