Dakota Johnson's dad Don Johnson has opened up about the conversation he had with his daughter over finances when she was growing up, and what her response was when he said he would have to cut her off.
This week Don, 71, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and spoke about a rule he had with his five children when it comes to finances. "We have a rule in the family that, you know, if you stay in school, you get to stay on the payroll. So, you go to college, you get to stay on the payroll," he shared.
He recalled the chat he had with Dakota about her future and what she wanted to do. "Toward the end of high school, I went to [Dakota] and I said, 'So, do you want to go visit some colleges?' Or something like that. And she was like, 'Oh, no. I'm not going to college."
With Dakota, 31, not being on the family "payroll anymore", the Miami Vice actor asked her how she was going to manage, and she came back with the best reply. "Don't you worry about it," she simply told him.
Just three weeks later, in 2010, she was cast as Amelia Ritter in The Social Network, and since then she's gone on to star in a steady stream of huge films, including Fifty Shades of Grey and The Peanut Butter Falcon.
