After two years of dating British actor Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift has finally broken her silence on their very private relationship.

Following the news she was moving 'home' to a new record label, the 28-year-old singer took to Instagram last night to gush about her London-born beau and his new film, The Favourite.

Sharing the trailer of the film - which stars Nicholas Hoult, Emma Stone, and Olivia Colman - the star captioned the clip: 'The Favourite is absolutely phenomenal, and it opens in NY and LA tomorrow— Swipe to see cities and dates!'

Since the pair began dating in the autumn of 2016, Joe and Taylor have kept their romance relatively under wraps.

In several interviews, the actor has continued to highlight the importance of keeping his private life, well, private.

'I’m aware people want to know about that side of things [how he and Swift are doing],' he recently told British Vogue. 'I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people…but I really prefer to talk about work.'

Meanwhile, it's widely believed several songs from the singer's Reputation album make subtle references to Alwyn, with the star even once pointing directly to him during her tour while singing the song 'Gorgeous'.

In September, Alwyn made a rare revelation about Swift using her social media platforms to speak about the importance of voting in the recent US midterm elections.

'I think it's great, I think it's important,' he briefly said to the press at the UK red carpet premiere for his latest film, before quickly moving on to speak to the next reporter.

The pair went on a very low-key but very public date earlier this week at an after party in Los Angeles following the premiere of Alwyn's latest project.

The Favourite is a historical period drama film which has already received stellar reviews from critics. The Guardian has described it as 'a rousingly nasty, bleary, hungover punchup' and is predicted to be 'specialty hit and an awards player', by Variety.

The Favourite is out on and in the UK on 1 January 2019.
