Margot Robbie might have appeared cool as a cucumber during her appearance at the BAFTAs in London on Sunday evening, but the actress says she was feeling quite anxious in reality.

During an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday, the 29-year-old admitted that she had been ‘so panicked’ about standing in to read Brad Pitt’s speech while he remained in the US for family reasons.

As a result of her nerves, the Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood star said that she forgot to prepare her own speech, in case she won for her roles in the Quentin Tarantino film and also in Bombshell.

Opening up about why she read Pitt’s speech, Robbie told the interviewers: [Brad], like the night before, was like “Can you do my speech for me? I can’t be there”, and I was so panicked about his speech that I didn’t even think about preparing one for myself.

'I was up for two, for both films in my category, and it wasn’t until I was in the car on the way there that I was like “Oh my gosh, I hope I don’t win because I don’t have anything to say”.'

During the awards ceremony, Pitt won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the Tarantino film, in which he appears opposite BFF Leonardo DiCaprio and Robbie.

Meanwhile, the Birds of Preys star lost out on her Best Supporting Actress nomination at the awards show to Laura Dern for her role in Marriage Story.

During Pitt’s acceptance speech, Robbie said that the 56-year-old actor was unable to be in the capital 'due to family obligations'.

Reading aloud his words, the actress said: ‘Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club!’ - referencing Britain's exit from Europe (Brexit).

He later joked that he plans to call his BAFTA award 'Harry' (after Prince Harry), because he was looking forward to ‘taking it back to America’ with him, referring to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to split their time between the UK and North America in the years to come.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were seated in the BAFTA audience front row.

Later in the day, the actress appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and opened up about her decision to give up her tattooing hobby. The star has regularly made light of the fact she’s quite a pro with a tattoo gun, having inked smiley faces on the big toes of several people over the years including former ELLE UK cover star Cara Delevingne.

During the TV interview, the actress admitted that she recently had a bad experience as a result of her love of tattooing others.

Recalling a visit to Australia for a friend’s wedding, Robbie said that she decided that everyone at her friend’s bachelorette part should get matching tattoos which she would ink.

'I'm tattooing my friend on her back... And then when I showed her afterwards, she was like "Oh, I didn't know that's what I was getting.”

'And I was like, "Oh, god." I was like, "What did you think you were getting?" She was like, "It doesn't matter, like, I like it either way."

'And I was lucky she was cool about it, but do you know who was not cool about it? Her mum, the next day at the wedding, when she walked down the aisle, as one of the maids of honour in a backless dress, and this like, red, raw, scabbing tattoo.

'And her mum was filthy with me... She was so angry, and I felt, I really shouldn't do this any more.'

The star continued, revealing that she has given up using her tattoo gun after a fair ‘few mishaps’.
