If you're already dreading the Riverdale hiatus – and the inevitable Jughead Jones withdrawal symptoms it will bring – then take heart from the news that Cole Sprouse will soon be coming to a big screen near you. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sprouse is in negotiations to star in the romantic drama Five Feet Apart, which will be the first movie role of his adult career.

Get a load of this synopsis, which will a) make you cry, and b) give you some hardcore deja vu if you happen to be a fan of The Fault In Our Stars. The script, by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, centres on two young people who meet and fall in love while being treated for their illnesses, knowing that they are both living on borrowed time. The story is described as being 'uplifting and about the people who help make every moment count as well as the transcendent power of love.' Sprouse would play one half of this doomed, star-crossed couple, with the female lead yet to be cast. And just for a little extra CW-based excitement, the movie will be directed by Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni.

True fans will know that Sprouse made his movie debut – along with his brother Dylan – in the 1999 Adam Sandler movie Big Daddy. But between his Disney days in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and his more recent breakthrough on Riverdale, Sprouse has been acting exclusively on television for some time.

Five Feet Apart will likely begin shooting in the spring.
