This week has been a colourful roller coaster, that's for sure. I'll be honest, when I started this little experiment I thought I would be smearing the new shades off and applying a hefty amount of nude lippy as soon as I left the office. I hold my hands up - I, Joely Walker, nudist lip enthusiast, was wrong. The range of shades from tomato red, barbie pink and outspoken orange to the darker shades of lip that would stop Cristian Grey in his tracks, made me re-evaluate my beliefs.

I realised I could update my wardrobe without having to spend my month's wages in Zara, as a dramatic lip made my outfit transform. My all-black jeans and top combo could have been boring but the addition of the classic red lip changed the look entirely. I updated my faithful stripy dress with a bold orange lip. I also found that I could look glamourous and polished without loading up on foundation and mascara.

This week taught me not to be so conservative with my choice. As cheesy as this sounds I was blind and now I have seen the light, and it's bright, bold and makes a statement.

It's hard to choose a favourite from the five shades I've tried, as there wasn't one that I didn't like. For texture I have to say I like the feeling of the sheer lipstick from day one , I love the low maintenance of a matte colour that lasted me all day from day two, and the glossy polish of day four, the conditioning and nutty colour from day three and the gothic romantic from day five. Okay, that's me being greedy. I can't decide, but the beauty is I don't have to - there's a rainbow of colours out there that I still need to try, and believe me I will!

Why not update your Saturday night outfit with one of the colours I've tried? Or anything that takes your fancy! If you're worried about the cost you can get great lipsticks out there that cost less than a vodka soda, with the same amount of confidence boost.
