Remember when we all spotted Kate Middleton at the royal wedding wearing what was then believed to be a recycled Alexander McQueen coat dress?

Well, erm, we hate to break it to you but we were all wrong.

One eagle-eyed royal fan is now claiming that instead of wearing the cream-coloured dress worn previously at Princess Charlotte's christening in 2015, the Duchess of Cambridge might actually have been wearing a similar lookalike.

Instagram user Jessica, who runs the account Royal Addicted 2, pointed out there was a subtle but crucial difference between the coats in question.

A closer inspection of the Duchess' coat at the wedding - teamed with a coordinating Philip Treacy hat - and you’ll see it had three buttons on its sleeves.

However, the garment she’s worn several times in the past doesn't feature any such detailing.

It’s also claimed the coat was also a 'primrose yellow', rather than the cream-colour of the original McQueen number.

Jessica explained that this won’t be the first time the mother-of-three has commissioned the same piece of clothing in various colours or styles.

The 37-year-old also owns a Preen cocktail dress in both red and black, as well as an Emilia Wickstead dress in pink and blue.

In fact, she also has the same dress by her go-to British designer, Amanda Wakeley, in cream and grey and blazers by Smythe in blue and in green.

Hey, if you’ve found something that works for your shape and style, work it.

The original McQueen coat, which features the same cut at the one worn to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials, was also worn at the Trooping the Colour in 2016, a year after she debuted the look at Charlotte’s christening.

The last time we saw the dress was during the Passchendaele commemoration service in Belgium back last July.
