Elle Woods honestly might not sanction this post because it's not one hundred percent legally sound, but we feel comfortable saying that beyond a shadow of a doubt, Legally Blonde 3 is happening and starring Reese Witherspoon (!!)—at least according to Deadline.
The outlet reports that MGM, the studio behind both the original and the sequel, and Witherspoon are close to closing a deal and that Kirstin Smith and Karen McCulloh, who wrote the adapted screenplay the first time around, are in final talks to write the script. The Legally Blonde 3 team also allegedly includes Mark Platt, the original producer, who will be joined by Witherspoon through her Hello Sunshine company. A director is still to come, as are many of the other details like release date, plot, etc. etc. etc.
It's okay to be speechless but like, in a good way.
It's also unclear yet whether a new pup will take the place of Bruiser, who passed away IRL in 2016.
We'll update this post with more details as they become available. In the meantime, try to stay chill, okay?
