preview for Sandra Bullock at the European premiere of Ocean's 8

With a line-up of some of the most in demand actresses in the world - Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson - along with women of the moment like Mindy Kaling and pop culture icons like Rihanna, the hype for Ocean's 8 has fully been fuelled by the star-studded cast.

The excitement and anticipation was further spurred when the relationship between the actresses seemed honest, fun and very relaxed on the press tour for the movie. They are genuine friends, a trajectory that is so refreshing when the 'backstage bickering' media narrative is all too often forced upon any female-dominated TV series or movies.

There was no denying the chemistry of this cast. Hosts of US flagship current affairs programme Today struggled to get through a hilarious interview of Paulson and Blanchett ribbing each other; it was revealed the group had a Whatsapp chat; Hathaway credited Rihanna for improving her body confidence and at the London premiere - last night in Leicester Square - the women were tactile, affectionate and seemed thrilled to see each other.

While all the laughs and enjoyment are a great part of the bonding experience on set, Bullock - who plays the lead character Debbie Ocean in the film - revealed it was actually the genuine caring and supportive camaraderie from all the actresses which made the film-making process truly meaningful.

'[Cate] was doing a play, I had two kids that needed to be shuttled from school so was running around with that, it was flu season and we were all juggling so many things... it was really nurturing and helpful, we all sort of pitched in when one of us was struggling,' she told Harper's Bazaar on the red carpet of the film's European premiere. 'At some point with a family, kids and work you are going to need some help and we all jumped in to help each other and that's what made it so incredibly sweet.'

Admitting that juggling multiple professional projects and family lives left the cast 'absolutely beat', the Miss Congeniality actress also revealed it wasn't unusual for the actresses to sneak in tactical naps on set.

'Cate and I were talking about how I would find her sleeping in the oddest places literally caught up on sleep,' she added.

Ocean's 8 is released in cinemas Monday 18 June.
