Lady Gaga has been single for the last month, ending her relationship with her ex-fiancé Christian Carino shortly before the Oscars. At the time, a source told People it wasn't a dramatic split, but Us Weekly got new details on why the couple parted ways this week. It turns out he was very much the jealous type.
A source told the outlet that yes, Gaga is the one who initiated the split, and it was because of the way he was treating her. 'Christian didn’t treat Gaga very well toward the end of their relationship, and she leaned on Jeremy [Renner] in the weeks after it ended,' the source said. (Renner and Gaga were reported earlier this week to be spending a lot of time together, but the Avengers actor and singer are not believed to be romantically involved at this point. Us was told by a source though that 'chemistry' is there.)
Carino was reportedly acting jealous and controlling at the end of his and Gaga's time together. He was 'trying to find her all the time and texted her a lot. He was controlling, and her friends didn’t like him,' Us's source said.
Immediately after their breakup, a source told Us Weekly that Gaga was career-focused and hadn't "even had time to address what has been happening between her and Christian, emotionally. She has been telling those around her, ‘Let’s stay focused.’”
And in the weeks since, she's been focusing on work and has been healing with friends. For her birthday today, Gaga took 11 of her closest pals to Cabo. She's planning a special dinner there tonight. 'She has been in a great mood and seems to be very happy,' E! was told by a source yesterday of the trip so far. 'Gaga has a private dinner planned for her birthday and is really happy to be spending her 33rd birthday with all of the people that have been by her side for many years.'
