If ever you needed proof that the yoga trend shows no signs of abating, then may we turn your attention to Maison Margiela's SS17 collection.

Creative Director John Galliano sent models down the catwalk in madcap tailoring and pops of colour, all topped off with that athleisure essential: the yoga mat.

From Gisele's much-Instagrammed yoga selfies to the original bendy supermodel, Christy Turlington, fashion has long sought inspiration from the spiritual wisdom of the East.

But this is probably less about finding your inner self, and more about looking fresh while wearing your finest athleisure to lunch.

Or perhaps it's a commentary on the commercialisation of yoga?

Who knows.

The best thing about this unexpected new hero accessory is that you probably already have one lurking around in the back of your wardrobe (or under the stairs).

But why not treat yourself to one of these jazzy numbers, just so you're really up to speed.

Now, did someone say Downward Dog?

Namaste, sister.
