MUSIC: Paradise London at Printworks
Regular readers of this page will know that we can't rave enough about Printworks, London's newest superclub that, thanks to the genius of being set inside a pre-soundproofed industrial building, is able to turn up its sound system to the optimum level and create an ace, Berlin-esque atmosphere. And we're here to tell you that you can't rave enough in Printworks, because the amazing line-ups just keep coming. At this weekend's 10-hour session, you can expect Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Richy Ahmed, Lauren Lane, Latmun, Waff… and us. Getting ready to rave about raving in Printworks all over again.

POP-UP: Winterville
Much like the Christmas jumper, the 'festive wonderland' pop-up is an essential – some might say unavoidable – part of the season to be jolly. But also like the Christmas jumper, festive wonderlands have had a hip makeover. And opening this weekend is the hippest version of them all: Winterville. Moving to a new home in Clapham Common, it has the obligatory ice skating/big wheel/fairground/mulled wine combo, sure. BUT the food comes courtesy of Street Feast, the market is curated by Wasted Chic, there's music from the likes of Norman Jay, South London Soul Train and Sink the Pink AND there's Backyard Cinema's Winter Garden. And if that hasn't sold you already, consider this: there's an '80s ROLLER DISCO.

FOOD: Westerns Laundry
Westerns Laundry is somewhat modestly billed as a neighbourhood restaurant. Which means that if you happen to live in Highbury, where it's located, your idea of what constitutes a 'neighbourhood restaurant' is skewed indeed. It'll probably include a courtyard planted with Himalayan Birch trees and interiors decked out with chic vintage furniture. And it'll most likely involve ridiculously delicious, seasonal, seafood-focused small plates that change daily but could include such wonders as mackerel escabeche, Porthilly oysters or cod with aoli, watercress and pangritata. It definitely will feature a 200-bottle strong wine cellar, focused on low-intervention, hand-harvested styles. Word of advice, though: don't go believing 'neighbourhood restaurants' are like this everywhere. Especially if you happen to be passing through Croydon.

ART: Modigliani
Sex and drugs and modernist art. What else would you expect from a bohemian Italian living in early 20th century Paris squalor, hanging with Picasso, Soutine and Brancusi and smoking an unholy amount of hash? And it's what you'll find at the Tate Modern this winter, at this major new retrospective of Amedoe Modigliani. While there's gorgeous sketches and portraits aplenty, the highlights are surely the 12 sensuous nudes - all boasting curves that put Kim K to shame. When they were first displayed in 1917, the outrage was such that the police shut down the exhibition for indecency. Boobs: surprisingly scary, it would seem.

DRINK: South Pole Saloon
Ho ho... Whoa?! What's this? An Antarctic dive bar full of rebel elves, cigar-smoking Santas and Christmas misfits? In BRIXTON? No, we haven't been at the egg nog (yet) – for this is actually happening. Putting a surreal twist on all things Christmassy, this rooftop bar mixes cocktails, craft beer and street food with immersive theatre. Which means you're in for concoctions including mulled Rekordelig and Elf'fin Bubbly, a tree-lined DJ booth, and street-eats from the likes of Vudu Food and Mac to the Future. Oh, and encounters with the Snowman. And the Sugar Plum Fairy. And the elves on the run from evil fat cat Father Christmas… Things could get weird. You have been warned.

POP-UP: The Imaginarium
Slade deniers, step this way. For here we present an altogether cooler Christmas pop-up. Roll up, roll up for The Imaginarium! A six-week arts space set in the middle of Borough Market, here you'll find live jazz and cabaret performances, folkloric Sunday storytelling, yoga workshops and a black comedy matinee of the Night before Christmas. Shopping? They've got that too: in the Bizarre Bazaar independent makers will be selling unique stocking fillers – look out for jewellery from Lukie Lowe, Aequill candles, quirky lighting from Nice Lamp and elaborate headdresses from Isla Campbell Millinery. And just in case you're worried about mulled-wine withdrawal, fear not: there's a festive cafe and wine bar on site. SOME cliched bits of Christmas are fine, after all...
From 18 Nov; free to enter, events and workshops ticketed

FOOD: The Prince
When you think about West Brompton, you probably don't think 'foodie hotspot'. Or, to be fair, think 'hotspot' at all. But newly opened uber-venue The Prince is out to change all that. Taking over an entire street (yep: an entire street), it not only features four fully-fledged restaurants from four London favourites – namely burger kings Patty & Bun, Thai stars Begging Bowl, small-plate haven Rabbit and new Vietnamese hit MAM – but it also has a split-level pub with free group bookings AND a covered, heated secret garden bar to discover in the middle of it all. We feel a pilgrimage coming on...
