Musician and actor Suki Waterhouse is no stranger to experimenting with her beauty looks. From watercolour eyes on the steps of the Met to 1970s glam at the premiere of Daisy Jones & The Six, the 31-year-old star is fearless when it comes to inhabiting various personas through her hair and make-up.

Tonight at the ELLE Style Awards, Waterhouse, who is known for channelling a rock ’n’ roll, bohemian beauty vibe, went down a more polished route with a glossy blowout by hairstylist Linnéa Nordberg and chic, 1960s-inspired beauty courtesy of A-list make-up artist Florrie White.

While 1960s make-up can veer a little too close into costume territory, White’s take on the look is softer and more fitting for the modern-day muse. There are no harsh lines and Twiggy lashes here: just cool tones across the eyes to offset a buffed-out feline flick, a hint of definition on the cheeks and a luminous, neutral lip.

When creating the look, White’s main goal was to keep Waterhouse ‘happy and confident’ in her sheer, crystal-encrusted Fendi by Kim Jones dress and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

White described Waterhouse’s signature look as ‘60s Parisienne’. ‘We went with doe eyes, lined lashes and a nude lip, which is beautiful and soft,’ she tells ELLE. ‘I added some extra high-octane highlights with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked to literally reflect the sparkles on the incredible dress, jewellery and shoes.’

As for Waterhouse’s flawless complexion, White relied on a drugstore staple (and a backstage favourite): Weleda Skin Food. ‘It’s my favourite skin prep. I buffed it in with Chok Beauty Ionic Skin Perfector and also applied Isamaya Beauty Skinlacq on the high points of Suki’s face, such as her cheekbones and temples,’ White explains.

In line with Waterhouse's personal style, Nordberg kept the hair 'glam and effortless as Suki loves the 60s vibe with the fringe and volume', Nordberg shares with ELLE. Nordberg blow dried the hair with a round brush for bounce before adding a tiny amount of texture spray to the bangs. 'It's not super perfect but its able to move around. It's a bit more lived in but it has a glamorous feel,' says Nordberg.

In case you’re wondering what’s in Waterhouse’s bag for the night, it’s plenty of blotting papers – a must-have for balmy evenings. A light dusting of powder and MAC Fix+ guarantees a camera-ready look that lasts.
