Great double acts in Hollywood are scarcely hard to come by. But, this year, few have felt more natural, or charismatic, than the coming together of Irish heartthrobs Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott. So, when in the middle of promotion of their film All of Us Strangers, we had to catch this very natural craic for ourselves.
We invited Mescal and Scott to be the next names to play ELLE UK's Ask Me Anything game, where questions ran the gamut from shared style notes through to the traits their friends love them for, with plenty of questions about the Emerald Isle for good measure, of course.
'I loved what you were wearing at the Irish premiere,' said Mescal in praise of one of Scott's most recent looks during their time on the promotional trail, himself resplendent in a blue Rejina Pyo shirt. 'And The Golden Globes look was chef's kiss,' he added gesticulating accordingly, while Scott bantered back asking for reassurance that he didn't look too 'mother of the bride.' Impossible in custom Valentino, we might add.
'You were wearing Simone Rocha, weren't you?', Scott then asked. 'She's one of our best, most amazing Irish designers,' they said almost in chorus. Agreed.
Before long, the pair are waxing lyrical about their favourite things about each other. 'It's all very well to be nice, which of course you are,' Scott reassured Paul. 'But to be a good person, sometimes you've got to risk having a difficult conversation and that's it with Paul. Paul is essentially a really, really good person. And that's what I love about him,' he concluded.
Mescal then took his turn in celebrating his co-star, noting: 'Andrew is an innately funny man... he's funny, loyal and quite protective of the people that [he loves].'
